The African Challenge | Test the limits!

We started the days of our trip very early, as a way to avoid the torrid heat that is felt by these bands and to prevent any possible mishaps that may arise, but this time was not enough. We started this day at 4 in the morning and even then we had to spend the night in the middle of nowhere, but we’ve already told you about it.

Our route planned for this day was the Mueda towards Negomane, the border of Mozambique with Tanzania. With the sand welcoming us from the beginning of the trip, causing extremely unpleasant sensations in the driving of our 300-pound motorbikes, followed by more sand mixed with wet clay, resulted in small falls, without major physical problems, but with a huge loss of time and a great psychological wear.

To help make the day go better, Paulo’s motorcycle insisted on not wanting to take it and, after a bad trailer experience the day before, we decided to change the battery between my bike and Pedro’s, if it turned out to be perfect. But the worst was yet to come!

The sand did not leave us, to which was added everything imaginable in all-terrain format, lacking no element of a great experience of the whole terrain. The experience was so hard, that Afonso had just told me that he was grateful that no one could remind him of the terror we had been in for over 16 hours.

To finish with the icing on the cake, given the time we lost, we had to spend the night in the middle of nowhere, in the territory of cheetahs and tigers, on top of our bikes. A beautiful break, so.

It was a hard physical test, but especially psychological, given the frustration we were feeling, of who takes 3 hours to cover a measly 20 kilometers.

The next day we managed to fulfill one more objective, that of reaching Tanzania.
